Why We Built Hola

Last year, I spent three hours trying to export invoices from my accounting software. Three hours. Not because I was doing something complicated — I just wanted a simple PDF of my Q4 invoices for a client meeting.

That's when I realized: finance software is fundamentally broken.

The Problem

We talked to over 500 freelancers and small business owners across Europe. The stories were remarkably consistent:

• "I pay €30/month for software I only use 10% of"
• "It took me two weeks to learn how to create an invoice"
• "I still use spreadsheets because the software is too confusing"
• "My accountant can't access my data without paying another subscription"

The software exists, but it's built for accountants, not for the people actually running businesses. It's overengineered, overpriced, and over-complicated.

Every feature we build has to pass one test: Can someone use it without reading documentation? If the answer is no, we don't ship it. Your grandmother should be able to send an invoice. Your friend who "isn't good with computers" should be able to track expenses.

Your accountant shouldn't need to use the same software as you to help you. They shouldn't need another login, another subscription, another tool to learn. With Hola, you can work with any accountant — whether they use Hola or not. Our Accountancy Bridge connects everyone.
